Cheer up, Andrew Coyne

It may well be that "there is no longer anything resembling a conservative party in this country".

OTOH, there is no longer anything resembling a progressive party in this country, either.

    Canada isn’t a small c-conservative country. I think Coyne also needs to admit that the media didn’t exactly play nice with the Reform/CPC over the last 15 years when they accused the Tories of being too right-wing for this country and having a hidden agenda.

    Given the character of the (urban) Canadian populace, I think the more interesting point is the lack of a progressive party. The Liberals are arguably closest, which, with the NDP around, is almost bizarre.
